Secord School Updates
The Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) is making great progress on the future school in Henley Heights!
School Name Announced
The Board of Trustees approved a name for the K-9 school on June 21, 2016. The school has been named David Thomas King School, after a former politician and public education advocate. To learn more about David Thomas King, visit the Edmonton Public Schools website.
Boundary Options Presented
EPSB announced two attendance boundary options and are open to feedback. To view the presentation and review the boundary options, visit the school board website. Feedback can be provided to the school board until September 12, 2016. Regardless of the boundary decision, Henley Heights is included in both boundary options giving residents of the community a school within walking distance to their homes.
Construction Firm Beginning to Mobilize
The firm managing the construction of the school, Synergy Projects, has begun to set up the site- fencing the area off and placing site trailers. This project is expected to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health.. For more information on Synergy, visit their website.
Along with anticipated LEED certification, David Thomas King School is attractive as well! EPSB shared renderings of the schools exterior and interior. It is fresh, open and friendly – great for learning and student enrichment. View the school renderings here.
